Safety Tips for Operators Using Wet Slurry Blasting Cabinets -  from Wet Technologies

  • Have you considered contact-less slurry-blasting automation instead of manual blasting?  Shops congested with multiple blast workers benefit immediately - for productivity, cost, quality - and especially, worker health!

  • Always handle workpieces with clean gloves.

  • Use glass cleaner and Lysol for the safety glass window, handles, controls, and all user interfaces and touch surfaces – including the front of the cabinet where the operator may lean against. (TIP: Rain-X treatment can help visibility.)

  • Before you leave, pull the blast cabinet gloves inside-out and spray them thoroughly with an appropriate disinfectant. Allow time for them to dry out!

  • Don’t share gloves.  A worker can wear their own glove liner (and rely on the sandblasting gloves for protection from the blast spray).

Since Wet Tech machines are much more compact, they are more suitable for crowded workshops, giving workers more social distancing space.  That's good news anytime.

Being dust-free, they can be placed in a work-cell alongside machining centers, without the hazards to nearby equipment that are typically posed by dry blasting equipment.

Wet Tech blast cabinet workers never have to put up with static electric shocks!  This versatile, alternative blasting process eliminates the problem entirely.

Wet Tech machines are very quiet compared to dry blasting - and particularly, the competition!  Less shouting over equipment noise is a true benefit in these times - reducing the volume of virus droplets (coronavirus or flu) in the shop!
