D-M Showcase at Eastec 2015

The Dawson-Macdonald’s booth at the 2015 EASTEC machine tool show offered hands-on learning of various types of surface preparation technologies. On display were different types of blast equipment, dust control equipment, blast media and filtration products.

Featured machines included basket blasters from Empire, with a versatile 3648SR manual suction blast cabinet system equipped with a rotating "2-in-1" removable basket. This is the beige unit to the right. These machines are ideal for automatic batch finishing of small work pieces. For those who need to blast larger parts, the "2-in-1" basket attachment is easily removed and reinstalled.

An all-stainless manual slurry blast machine from Wet Technologies is shown at the left side of the booth. The WT36SS cabinet system features a high volume slurry pump, manually operated swing door, a closed loop filtration system and gum rubber liners on walls and floor. Several options are available including media density monitor, hydro-cyclone media separator and combination blower/de-mister with HEPA filter.

On the right you will see our micro-abrasive blast machine from Vaniman. Vaniman blasters are designed for pinpoint accuracy or very controlled blasting techniques. All of the units use a pressurized abrasive tank to mix air and media and force the mixture out of a crystal or carbide tip. With the exception of the mobile units, all units have a sealed work area with two or three tanks and pressure is regulated from 1-100 PSI by the operator to attain desired results.

Torit mist collectors and replacement dust collector cartridges are in blue, and the contractor-duty industrial vacuum in red, made locally by Ruwac, is prominently displayed in front. Larger dust collectors and walk-in blast rooms are represented by posters along the back.

Not shown is the MDD mini-wet downdraft table. This downdraft table is suitable for the capture of hazardous dusts. Key features include a 36” deep X 38” wide x 37” high work area, 1200 CFM capacity, heavy steel grating work surface, a 3HP TEFC motor and stainless steel construction. With new regulations and classifications for hazardous dust, an MDD mini-wet downdraft table is a must have for your shop or facility.
