No Wear Here

Here’s an application upgrade success story… I was recently assisting a customer with maintenance and training and got to tear down a high performance Wet Technologies slurry pump.

This photo shows the twin stir nozzles that maintain the consistent slurry mix that Wet Tech systems are so good at. These nozzles have seen 11,599 blasting hours since the machine’s commissioning in 2004. And, what do you see? Virtually NO wear!

A deciding advantage with Wet Tech is that these slurry blast machines can maintain a very high media concentration of media (40%!) – As this one does. Literally millions of precision aerospace parts have been blast peened, and these stir nozzles have continued to discharge hundreds of pounds of slurry an hour – for over a dozen years. Yes, in blasting, optimal media combined with superior equipment design can give results like this!

Wet Tech is known for maintenance-friendly, high-performance equipment. (In fact, you don’t need any tools to take apart a Wet Tech slurry pump!) The lack of wear of these stir nozzles is a graphic proof of a quality product.

Other Wet Tech advantages?

  • No Dust! And a much cleaner shop. No static build up either.

  • Versatile: Etch, fine-finish, deburr - same media, same machine (in fact, same setup).

  • Consolidation of processes – wash, blast, rinse, dry – in an all-in-one machine.

  • Floor space savings.

  • Very long media life. This helps not only ongoing abrasive cost (+ freight & disposal cost), but also consistency of a quality result.

  • Wet Tech is quieter than blasting with air nozzles.

  • Reduced possibility for grit embedment and higher quality finishes.

  • Superior construction materials, quality machine build, innovative engineering.

  • And, as we’ve seen above, less frequent maintenance intervals for durability and minimal downtime.

You bet that this customer will be upgrading many other blast processes from dry to wet, using durable media, and keeping Dawson-Macdonald as their source for media, equipment, and expertise.

Contact me and we can set up a demo at the Dawson-Macdonald blast lab – and you see for yourself the clean, simplified process and remarkable finished results on your parts.
