Blast Standards Update from SSPC

The Society of Protective Coatings has updated its standards for surface preparation.

Blasting to SSPC standards now includes verifying the purity of the abrasive itself to be sure no outside contaminants get into the media. Other standards have been relaxed.

Wet Abrasive Blast Standards were added. (Wet Abrasive Blasting has taken off in popularity - we are proud to represent Greener Blast - and wet blast equipment is available for rental directly from Dawson-Macdonald. Contact us for more info.)

A summary of the standards update is now on BlastPrep.com's Tech Data tab. Detailed info is found at SSPC.org.

Dawson-Macdonald is a long time member of SSPC.

The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) was founded in 1950 as the Steel Structures Painting Council, a non-profit professional society concerned with the use of coatings to protect industrial steel structures.

SSPC is the only non-profit association that is focused on the protection and preservation of concrete, steel and other industrial and marine structures and surfaces through the use of high-performance protective, marine and industrial coatings. SSPC is the leading source of information on surface preparation, coating selection, coating application, environmental regulations, and health and safety issues that affect the protective coatings industry.
